In Europe the coat of arms identifies an individual, while in Japan the Kamon represents a house and the family. The whole family, not just parents and siblings, use the same Kamon. In ancient times, Kamon were used by the nobility. They included plant designs with the crest on the left showing the autumn bellflower, while a wisteria flower was depicted on the right.
