I always enjoy matching quotations with images. The first quotations gallery I made was for “The Artistry of Jacques Pépin” website. In graphic design, quotations are transformed from static text into dynamic visual statements through careful typography, spatial arrangement, and hierarchy. Designers use pull quotes—bold, enlarged excerpts extracted from a body of text—to create entry points for readers, break up dense blocks of copy, and establish a rhythm across a page or layout. Beyond structural utility, the treatment of quotation marks themselves, whether styled as oversized decorative graphics, set in contrasting serif or sans-serif typefaces, or hanging gracefully into the margins, sets an immediate tone and voice for the content.
