A GRANITE BAY DESIGN MICROSITE JAPANESE FAMILY CRESTS
Kamon have been used in many interesting ways. Aside from plants and animals, Kamon have been associated with the Japanese military, appearing on such things as feather arrow fletching. In civilian life, the symbols were put onto clay roofing tiles, traditional dress (kimono), furniture, kitchen vessels and more. However, in modern times, Kamon have been relegated to mostly ceremonial use such as wedding clothes. They also continue to be used on gravestones.
