Examples are most effective when they make an abstract idea visible through a specific situation, calculation, or comparison. In education, a worked problem can show not only the correct result but also the decisions that lead to it, giving learners a pattern they can adapt. A short test after the explanation measures whether the underlying concept has been understood, while its questions can reveal confusion that a polished final answer might conceal. Strong instructional examples therefore include enough context to explain why a method applies, yet remain focused enough that the central principle is easy to identify. They also benefit from variation: changing the numbers, setting, or order of information encourages transfer instead of simple memorization. Used thoughtfully, examples connect theory with practice and give readers a clearer basis for judging when a particular approach is appropriate.
