ANCIENT CELTIC POETRY*

Oir’s ann a ghabh mi cead gu brath v
De m’ Mhairi aluinn bhoidhich!
ENGLISH TRANSLATION
Ye banks, and braes, and streams around
The castle 0 ‘ Montgomery,
Green be your woods, and fair your flowers,
Your waters never drumlie!
There Simmer flrst unfald her robes,
And there the langest tarry:
For there I took the last Fareweel
0′ my sweet Highland Mary.
